Sunday is Harry Potter’s 42nd birthday, in the books’ universe at least, and Fairfield-based Legendary Letters will be celebrating.

But they will not be alone. The business — which specializes in personalized letters from mythical figures such as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny as well as acceptance letters to Hogwarts similar to the one Harry got in the first book — will be hosting a Wizarding Celebration with 17 other downtown businesses.

The fun will start at Legendary Letters at 707 Kentucky St., where visitors will take part in a sorting ceremony and receive a Charms lesson. After that, they will receive a map card to get stamped at 17 participating locations which will offer a different activity.

The participating locations are Slime World, Pizza Twist, Digital Stitchz, Three Restaurant, Vintique Marketplace, Downtown Theatre, the Matt Garcia Foundation, Fairfield Civic Center Library, Michael Electronic Services, CruiseOne, Raquel’s Tax Service, Quick Stop Registration Service, Napadashery, I Will Cut You Creations, Eagle Eye Engraving and Rosanna’s European Delights. Sweet the Creamery will be on site offering frozen treats available for purchase as well.

At the end of the quest, participants can turn in their stamped cards to be entered into a drawing to receive prizes.

The event is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. For more information, go to
