TUKWILA, Wash. – Members of the Teamsters Local 174 Union, who work for Boeing, voted Sunday morning to authorize a strike if a contract cannot be reached with The Boeing Company.

The Teamsters are responsible for transporting aircraft engines, large aircraft parts, hazardous materials, and people.

“Boeing has spent the last 20 years creating a work environment that includes outsourcing, downsizing, and elimination of the work our members perform – all the while increasing management and executive bonuses to unbelievable heights,” said Teamsters Local 174 Secretary Treasurer Rick Hicks.

Teamsters 174 says the contract expires at midnight on April 17, 2021.

Boeing issued the following response to the vote, “Boeing continues to engage and negotiate in good faith to present a comprehensive offer that works for our employees, customers, the community and the union. Our goal is to reach an agreement prior to the end of the current contract. In the event of a work stoppage, we have mitigation plans in place to continue operations without interruption to our customers.”
