Man rescued from Lake Michigan near Buckingham Fountain, taken to hospital

A man in his 20s was pulled out of Lake Michigan near Grant Park and taken to a hospital Monday afternoon, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Fire officials responded to reports of a man in the lake about 12:50 p.m., according to Fire Department spokesman Larry Merritt. Crews rescued the man near 500 S. Lake Shore Drive and transported him about 1:20 p.m.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment. Merritt did not immediately have information on the man’s condition.
