MANASSAS, VA — Although a month away, it's not too soon to prepare for the 21st Greater Manassas St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 14, which celebrates the Manassas community and Irish history. The organizers are still accepting applications for participants and people wishing to volunteer.

The parade will feature Irish flair with several pipe bands, including the Alexandria Pipe and Drums, Irish dance groups, and members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. The parade will start at the corner of Quarry Road and Prescott Avenue at 11 a.m. on March 14. The public will be able to view the parade along Center Street in Old Town Manassas.

The parade organizers are still accepting applications to be a part of the annual event. Applications should be submitted by Tuesday, Feb. 18. The cost to participate is $50 per group, by check or PayPal. Applications submitted after the deadline may still be considered, but priority will be given to those prior to the entry deadline.

Other participants who are already confirmed include the Northern Virginia Firefighters Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, Washington Scottish Pipes and Drums, City of Winchester Pipe Band, the Notre Dame Alumni Marching Band, and the Marine Corps Color Guard.

The 2020 parade theme is the shamrock. Participants are asked to incorporate the shamrock into their costume and designs.

The organizers also are looking for volunteers, whether individually or in groups, to assist with the parade. The organizers have provided a form for volunteers to complete.
