The winning Mega Millions numbers for Friday were 3, 20, 31, 34, and 65, and the Mega Ball number was 18 while the Megaplier was 3X, according to the Mega Millions website.

There was a top prize of $84 million and a cash option of $58.9 million up for grabs, but no ticket matched all five numbers and the Mega Ball to win the big prize, so the jackpot gets even bigger.

However, one ticket holder from New York matched all five numbers to take the $1 million prize.

There were 13 tickets that matched four numbers and the Mega Ball for the $10,000 prize. Three ticket holders tripled their prizes to $30,000 by playing the Megaplier.

There were 271 players who won $500 by matching four numbers, 54 of whom increased their winnings to $1,500 with the Megaplier.

Some 705 players won $200 by matching three numbers and the Mega Ball, with 155 players winning $600 by using the Megaplier. Over 433,000 tickets won prizes of at least $2.

The jackpot will now grow to $94 million for Tuesday's drawing with a cash option of $66 million.

While there was no jackpot winner on Friday, last month did see one ticket holder in New York win a $431 million prize ($314.4 million cash). That was the state's second Mega Millions jackpot this year, following a $96 million prize won in Oneida County on February 16.

Other jackpots won so far this year include $516 million in Pennsylvania on May 21, and a $55 million prize was won in Illinois on June 8.

The second-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history, $1.05 billion, was won by a group in Michigan on January 22.

How to play Mega Millions

Mega Millions drawings happen every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET.

Five white balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 70, while one yellow Mega Ball is drawn from balls numbered 1 through 25. You win if the numbers on your lottery ticket match the numbers of the balls drawn on that date.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 per play. If no one wins the jackpot prize, the money is added to the top prize for the following drawing.

Most states offer a Megaplier option, which costs an additional $1 per play and increases non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four or five times.

Before each Mega Millions drawing, the Megaplier is drawn from a pool of 15 balls. Five of these balls are marked with 2X, six with 3X, three with 4X and one with 5X.

Players can buy tickets in 45 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Lottery tickets are not available in Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah.
