Nestlé USA Inc. is closing its frozen distribution center at 1301 S. Keystone Ave. by the end of this year and laying off 172 workers, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retaining Notification filed with the state Monday.

The site is listed as the address of Nestle Dreyer's.

The closure of the site is part of Nestle's reorganization of the company's sales and supply chain frozen DSD operation. Employees at Nestlé's retail sales workforce and Nestlé deep frozen supply chain will be impacted by the closure.

The layoffs could begin as early as Nov. 1. Impacted positions include 24 sales representatives and 98 warehouse workers, mechanics, drivers and others.

Last week, Nestle announced that it also is shuttering a frozen distribution center in Fort Wayne. That closure will impact 69 workers.
