Members of the Northeastern University community were ordered to shelter in place for about 40 minutes Thursday night.

Campus police tweeted around 10:40 p.m. that police activity was occurring in the area of Curry Student Center, on Huntington Avenue. On Friday, campus police clarified that the situation began when an unidentified person called in a threat alleging explosive devices were in the student center.

The Boston Police Department confirmed it was also responding to the reported bomb threat.

At approximately 11:20, campus police lifted the shelter-in-place order but continued asking everyone to avoid Snell Quad and the student center.

"We have now determined that the threat was fraudulent and there was never a danger to anyone on campus," Northeastern Police wrote.
