Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for eight foster families from Citizens Caring for Children at the Paycom Center on Tuesday.

Citizens Caring for Children is an organization providing hope, changing lives and creating healthy futures for Oklahoma's children in the foster care system. The organization provides basic necessities to the families, including their resource center, where families can go and shop four times a year for basic needs.

"Children living in foster care face a lot of uncertainty. They're in foster care for no fault of their own, they've not done anything wrong. The adults in their lives have failed them," said Executive Director of Citizens Caring for Children, Lynne Roller. "So for kids to come to an event like this and be surrounded by someone like Chet, the Thunder staff, other people showing them that they matter, that people care about them, want them to have fun and want them to be able to be a kid."

The foster families all enjoyed a Thanksgiving buffet with Chet and his family and even got to meet and interact with Rumble the Bison.

"It's really hard for the kids this time of year, so getting out and getting to do things like this, it's always great," said foster parent of three, Stacey Kirby. "This is really big for the kids, they don't normally get to do this kind of thing. They'll be talking about this for a very long time."

For Chet, it was all about giving back to the Oklahoma community.

"Every year I've had a great Thanksgiving dinner with my family. I'm in a new city now, this is my new Oklahoma City family. So, I thought I'd try to do the same for some people this year, and I hope it turned out well for them," Holmgren said. "I don't think anyone is going home hungry tonight, and that was the goal."
