A helicopter crashed 10 miles southwest of New Orleans Sunday, killing one person and injuring two others, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office said a pilot and two crewmen were on the helicopter doing inspections of high voltage power lines when they crashed on an Entergy transmission line right-of-way located in the marsh near Magnolia Ridge Road in Boutte.

The pilot and a crew member were taken to University Hospital with extensive injuries, the SCPSO said. A third person was located under debris at the crash site and he died at the scene.

Officials added the Hughes 369 helicopter crashed due to unknown circumstances.
