The department said officer Preston Hemphill has been relieved of duty but they have not named the 7th officer placed on leave nor specified his involvement in the incident. A lifelong “Wheel” fan, the sophomore had hoped to win enough to help with his tuition. He ended up winning $69,440 in cash and prizes, including a trip to Maui.
His episode aired Nov. 24 as a part of “College Week.”
