Criminal charges possible following gas leak in Voorheesville

Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple Sr. reports a suspicious gas leak in the Village of Voorheesville.

On Monday June 6, 2022 at 3:00 PM, the Albany County Sheriff's 911 Center received a 911 call for a resident who requested medical assistance at 7 Lexington Court in Voorheesville. 

Upon the arrival of Albany County Sheriff's E.M.S., it was discovered that there was a gas leak in the residence. Voorheesville Fire Department responded who subsequently evacuated 7 neighboring homes which consisted of approximately 14 residents. 

 National Grid responded to the scene and shut down the gas supply to the residence.

The resident was transported via ambulance to Albany Medical Center to be treated for a mental health crisis. 

According to police after investigation it was revealed that the gas supply line to the dryer was intentionally damaged by the owner. 

Criminal charges are pending.
