Police officers learn Spanish to better serve Tulsa community

Four Tulsa Police Department officers are graduating from their Spanish Language Skills for First Responders course.

The four-week program explored cross cultural communication with the Latino community and Tulsa police.

Tulsa Police Officers Emberton, Smith, Thomas, and Thompson earned a certificate from the Mexican Consulate.

Officers said it was a wonderful experience and a great opportunity to embark on learning a new language.

Police said they'd like to thank the Mexican Consulate, Council of Safe Neighborhoods, TCC, the Tulsa Intercultural Association, and Mingo Valley Division Commander, Mayor Wollmershauser, for their collaborations efforts to bridge the gaps between the Latino community.
