Tadich Grill was closed due to the shelter-in-place order, but will return to serve customers indoors at a 50% capacity beginning Nov. 9.

It looks like Tadich Grill will see year 172.

San Francisco's oldest restaurant will reopen on Monday, Nov. 9, three months after shuttering its takeout operation, and seven months after it closed its doors for the first time ever in March.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the restaurant opted not to reopen when San Francisco moved into California's orange tier in September (which allowed indoor dining at 25% capacity) and instead held out for the city's jump to the state’s least-restrictive tier for reopening, which will jack indoor dining up to 50% capacity beginning Nov. 3.

Tadich CFO Melissa Buich confirmed the reopening date to SFGATE, and said the 50% allowance will allow the S.F. institution to seat 50 people at a time.

"So hopefully that means at least 100 customers for lunch and dinner each day," she said. "We are very excited over here."

And for good reason. Tadich refused to let a single employee go when the San Francisco issued a shelter-in-place order in March, and continued to pay their employees through July using a combination of a Payment Protection Program loan (that totaled between $350,000-$1 million according to the U.S. Department of the Treasury), a GoFundMe that raised more than $60,000 and personal contributions from the Buich family.

Since, though, the restaurant was forced to shut down all operations and hope transmission of COVID-19 would slow enough in the Bay Area to allow the restaurant to restart.

That day will finally come next month. Reservations for Tadich — available on Tock — launched Thursday morning, and as of Friday afternoon several time slots were already booked in full.

"As expected, Friday and Saturday night spots are filling up fast," Buich said. "We intend to keep a portion of our tables open to accommodate walk-ins."

Tadich Grill is located at 240 California St. in San Francisco's Financial District. Hours: 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday thru Friday; 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Monday thru Saturday, and Sunday for private parties only.
