Mifflin County School District Superintendent Vance Varner said as the bus headed into a ravine, it hit black ice, went down an embankment and landed against a tree, which prevented it from rolling over.
The students and driver were not able to exit through the front of the bus. So, they got out through the rear.
Several people who were following the bus, including one who happened to be the high school nurse, called 911 and helped everyone crawl out of the bus.
All of the students were released to their parents. No one was taken to the hospital.
The students all attend Strodes Mills Elementary School.
