Seattle Public Schools students will have to wait a little longer before returning to class.

The return to in-person instruction has been delayed until later in March, according to a joint statement from the district and the teacher’s union.

SPS said it is working on a bargaining agreement to get students enrolled in Special Education Intensive Services Pathways and preschool back in the classroom by March 29.

These students were originally scheduled to return this week.

The district is also rescinding its Feb. 25 order that designated some teachers as “essential” and is offering health and safety training for teachers to prepare for the return of students.

Parents will have the option to keep students remote.
