HONDO, Texas – Dove hunting season is back in Texas and what better way to celebrate than hitting the outdoors while also helping the future of agriculture.

The third annual dove hunt at Paloma Pachanga is set to start Oct. 2, which raised more than $100,000 last year.

Its campaign helps raise money to provide educational opportunities for youth. This year, the organizers say they are focusing on providing opportunities for graduating high school seniors looking to enter trade school.

The money raised will help provide scholarships for children in the agricultural fields.

There will be several events, but the first of course is the charity dove hunt.

The dove hunt will start late in the afternoon and is followed by a ribeye steak dinner, auction and live entertainment from the Brett Mullins Band. Those who are non-hunters can still partake and enjoy the event.

Although it is an event, it’s outdoors with plenty of space for social distancing and the organizers say they plan to limit the number of participants.

There are five levels of sponsorships – platinum, gold, silver, bronze and individual. Those who choose to donate for platinum or gold level will receive entry to a room on the evening of Oct. 2, as well as access to the after party.

They also plan to host a Saturday morning dove hunt at the lodge.

Here are the prices for each level of sponsorships:

  • Platinum Level - $10,000 – Includes 12 hunters or non-hunters, two rooms at The Hacienda and the after party. Day after hunt for four.
  • Gold - $5,000 – Includes eight hunters or non-hunters. Two rooms at The Hacienda and the after party. Day after hunt for four.
  • Silver - $2,500 – Includes four hunters or non-hunters, one room at The Hacienda and after party.
  • Bronze - $1,000 – Includes two hunters/non-hunters, a steak dinner and open bar.
  • Individual - $300 – Includes one hunter, steak dinner, open bar and event participant.

The first 100 to register will receive a goodie bag. You can find more information here.
