Two people were killed when a small plane crashed at a Torrance airport Wednesday morning, officials said.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the crash happened around 11 a.m. as the pilot was attempting to land a single-engine Arion Lightning aircraft at Zamperini Field Airport.
The two people on board were killed. They have not been identified yet.
AIR7 HD was over the wreckage, where there was a significant response from local authorities after the plane went down in a grassy area at the west end of a runway.
Officials with the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash.
The airport was closed amid the investigation. No other injuries were reported.
