Smoke plume visible for miles from Montgomery Co. commercial fire
A plume of smoke billowing from a commercial fire in Montgomery County Tuesday was visible for miles.
Tuesday afternoon around 4, the Montgomery County Fire-EMS Dept., along with the Christiansburg and Elliston Volunteer Fire Depts., responded to the fire at Gregory's Pallet Processing in Elliston.
Smoke and fire were coming from the back of the building when crews arrived on the scene.
After an evaluation of the scene, an excavator was on fire and was extending to other parts of the building.

Fire crews were on the scene for about two hours.
"An aggressive fire attack and a prompt 911 call limited the damage of what could have been a catastrophic fire," Montgomery County Fire-EMS Dept. said.
No injuries were reported.
The fire was determined to be accidental.
