Sorority hosts pop up health event to offer free COVID-19 vaccines, mammograms in DC, Md.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority on Friday brought its fight against breast cancer and COVID-19 to underserved Washington, D.C. residents.

During its HBCU Week celebration, on Friday the organization stopped by at Howard University to deliver COVID-19 vaccinations and testing, as well as mammograms. Officials will continue the event at  Morgan State University in Baltimore on Saturday.

According to officials, earlier this week, the sorority set a record and raised more than $2.1 million in one day to benefit our nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
