Last week: State: 1,000 coronavirus infections in Volusia schools since September

Volusia County school officials have already raised concerns about the number of cases in the new year, even mentioning at the last School Board meeting that the current precautions will remain in place. Teachers and staff in the district who are over the age of 65 were able to begin receiving vaccinations last week through a partnership with the district and the county.

The state's numbers include a breakdown of how many cases are in each school — information the districts have been unwilling to provide. Neither agency is providing information about how many students or staff members are in quarantine.
