With students learning from home because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office launched a creativity contest in March for students to submit artwork, videos and poetry.

After dozens of entries had been submitted, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announcing 17 winners from the towns and schools that entered, with a total of 17 awardees. Each winner will receive a $25 Target gift card and all participants are being presented with a certificate.

The “How Much We Love Hudson County Drawing and Creativity Contest” gave students an opportunity to share what they love about their Hudson County town — from its people, to its places, to its sights, smells and sounds – through drawing, video, poems, and more.

The contest was open to all students, grades pre-k to 12.

“It was uplifting to see the creativity and messages of hope reflected in the artwork, videos and poems,” said Prosecutor Suarez. “During these difficult times, we thought this would be a positive way for young people to engage in a creative outlet while sharing what they love about their home towns."
