Tanker truck crashes, spills liquid asphalt on Capital Beltway in Montgomery County

A tanker truck crash early Thursday morning spilled liquid asphalt across the Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway in Montgomery County.

WBAL-TV's sister station, WRC-TV, reported the truck overturned around 4 a.m. at the exit for Interstate 270 and leaked diesel fuel and hot liquid asphalt across the travel lanes, closing the Outer Loop for several hours.

Hazardous materials crews were called to the scene as the truck's driver was taken to a hospital. The driver's condition was not immediately reported.
