REGIONAL QUARTERFINALS

MCALLEN 52, FLOUR BLUFF 47

Flour Bluff's stellar season came to an end on Saturday night with a loss to McAllen in a Class 5A regional quarterfinal at Alice High School.

The Hornets finished the season with a 24-3 record and a District 29-5A championship. 

McAllen will advance to the regional semifinals where it will take on Georgetown at time, date and location yet to be determined. 

FRIDAY

REGIONAL QUARTERFINALS

STAFFORD 75, MILLER 50

Miller's 20-game winning streak came to an end on Friday night in Cuero.

The Buccaneers fell to Stafford in a Class 4A regional quarterfinal, less than 24 hours after beating Fredericksburg in the area round. 

Miller was playing in its third game in four days because of the condensed schedule after last week's winter weather. The Buccaneers finished the season at 20-4.

CLASS 5A

MCALLEN 57, KING 41

King's season came to an end on Thursday as McAllen took a 16-point win in Alice. 

McAllen will advance to take on Flour Bluff at a time, date and place to be determined in a regional quarterfinal. King finishes its season at 19-10 after making its first playoff appearance in two years. 

FLOUR BLUFF 63, BROWNSVILLE PACE 57

The Hornets hung on for a win against Brownsville Pace in Falfurrias on Thursday to advance to the regional quarterfinals.

Flour Bluff improved to 24-2 this season will take on McAllen in the regional quarterfinals at a time, date and place to be determined. 

MCALLEN ROWE 64, VETERANS MEMORIAL 52

McAllen Rowe defeated Veterans Memorial in an area round game on Thursday in Weslaco.

The Eagles finished the season at 13-13. McAllen Rowe will advance to take on Victoria West in a regional quarterfinal matchup. 

CLASS 4A

TULOSO-MIDWAY 81, UVALDE 62

The Warriors advanced to the regional quarterfinals for the first time in 17 years after a convincing win against Uvalde on Thursday. 

Tony Benavidez led the Warriors with 21 points, and Aaron Pizana added 14, Sebastian Piaz 13 and Zack Moore 10.

CLASS 4A

CRYSTAL CITY 77, KINGSVILLE 75

Crystal City held off Kingsville with a victory in the area round in Pleasanton on Wednesday.

Crystal City will advance to take on either Port Isabel or San Antonio Young Men's Leadership Academy in the regional quarterfinals.

Kingsville finishes its season as the District 31-4A co-champions and with a 16-4 record. 

LA VERNIA 60, WEST OSO 39

West Oso's season came to an end on Wednesday with a loss to La Vernia in the area round at Converse Judson High School. 

West Oso finished its season at 13-9. La Vernia will advance to play Boerne or La Marque in the regional quarterfinals. 

CLASS 3A

SAN DIEGO 60, MISSION IDEA NORTH 51

The Vaqueros will move onto the regional quarterfinals after a victory in the area round on Wednesday in Alice. 

San Diego will advance to take on regional power Santa Rosa in the regional quarterfinals at a time, date and place to be determined.

SANTA ROSA 61, BISHOP 57

The Badgers gave regional power Santa Rosa all it could handle in an area round loss at Kingsville High School. 

Santa Rosa will advance to take on San Diego.

CLASS 2A

PORT ARANSAS 55, SAN ANTONIO LEE ACADEMY 51

The Marlins kept their season alive with a victory in the area round against San Antonio Lee Academy.

Port Aransas will take on Santa Maria or Brackett in a regional quarterfinal at a time, date and place to be determined. 

TUESDAY

BI-DISTRICT

CLASS 5A

FLOUR BLUFF 58, MISSION VETERANS MEMORIAL 45

Flour Bluff led from start to finish in a Class 5A bi-district win against Mission Veterans Memorial in Alice.

The Hornets opened a 34-22 halftime lead and though the Patriots made a few charges, they never caught the District 29-5A co-champions. Henry Ibarra led Flour Bluff with 18 points and Damien Amador added 10 points.

Flour Bluff (22-2) advanced to face Brownsville Pace at 6 p.m. Thursday at Falfurrias in the area playoffs.

VETERANS MEMORIAL 64, LAREDO MARTIN 55

Veterans Memorial upset District 30-5A champion Laredo Martin in the Class 5A bi-district playoffs Tuesday.

The fourth-place Eagles built a comfortable lead going into the fourth quarter and withstood a comeback from Martin to hold on and advance.

Veterans Memorial will face McAllen Rowe in the Class 5A area playoffs

CLASS 4A

MILLER 71, WEST COLUMBIA 48

Miller opened the Class 4A bi-district playoffs with a win against West Columbia. The Buccaneers advanced to the area round to play Fredericksburg at a location, time and date to be announced later.

Lonnie Adkism led the way with a team-best 16 points and Andrew Body and Malicki Winn combined for 21 points. Miller improved to 19-3 and increased its winning streak to 19 games.

PORT ISABEL 73, ROBSTOWN 55

Port Isabel used a late charge to pull away and beat Robstown in a Class 4A bi-district game in Falfurrias.

The Cotton Pickers were within single digits early in the fourth quarter before the District 32-4A champions surged late. 

The Tarpons advance to face the winner of the San Antonio YMLA and Pearsall.

LA MARQUE 62, SINTON 40

La Marque outscored Sinton 24-4 in the second quarter on its way to a win in the Class 4A bi-district playoffs.

The 23-point halftime deficit was too much for the Pirates to overcome against the District 25-4A runners up.

La Marque advanced to face Boerne in the area playoffs.

CLASS 2A

REFUGIO 48, FREER 35

Jordan Kelley and Antwaan Gross combined for 29 points to lead Refugio to a Class 2A bi-district win against Freer. The Bobcats improved to 10-3 and advanced to the area round to play Sabinal at Floresville with a time and date to be announced.

CLASS 3A

ARANSAS PASS 90, BROWNSVILLE JUBILEE 66

The high-scoring Aransas Pass boys pulled away from Brownsville Jubilee to earn a decisive Class 3A area win.

James Crawford scored 40 points for the 8th-ranked Panthers, who improved to 25-1 on the season. Christian Leal added 21 points as Aransas Pass broke open a 39-30 halftime lead.

The Panthers advance to face London in the regional quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Friday at Veterans Memorial.

LONDON 94, MONTE ALTO 39

Joshua Chesney led three players in double figures as No. 4 London cruised past Monte Alto in the Class 3A area playoffs.

Chesney scored 24 points, Pierson Cazalas added 15 and Preston Cazalas scored 12 in the win for the Pirates.

London moved on to face Aransas Pass in the regional quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Friday at Veterans Memorial. 

MONDAY

BI-DISTRICT

CLASS 5A

KING 74, RIO GRANDE CITY 58

The King boys basketball team built a 31-point lead through three quarters in coasting to a Class 5A bi-district win in Edinburg on Monday.

The Mustangs were led by Cameron Harris, who scored 23 points. King led 60-29 after three quarters before the Rattlers surged in the final eight minutes.

King beat District 30-5A's second place team to advance to face District 31-5A champion McAllen High in the area playoffs. 

CLASS 4A

WEST OSO 73, BRAZOSPORT 64

West Oso overcame an early deficit to rally past Brazosport with a big third quarter in a Class 4A bi-district game in Victoria.

The Bears used a late surge in the second quarter to get the deficit to 31-29 at the half.

In the third quarter West Oso outscored the Exporters 21-12 to take command.

The Bears will take on La Vernia at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Converse Judson in the area round.

TULOSO-MIDWAY 106, RAYMONDVILLE 60

Tuloso-Midway had a big first quarter and never took the foot off the accelerator in a decisive Class 4A bi-district win against Raymondville.

The Warriors scored 53 points by half in opening a 28-point advantage and coasted to a playoff win.

The victory propels T-M to the area round against either Uvalde or San Antonio Brooks Academy.
