The RAP Act would bar the use of lyrics as evidence in criminal cases

Recently, prosecutors cited the lyrics of rappers Young Thug and Gunna when they charged them with gang and racketeering activity, a tactic that's been used against Black artists before. Now a new bill proposed in Congress, the RAP Act, aims to protect artists' creative expression from being used as criminal evidence.
