The women who helped defeat ISIS

The Kurdish Women’s Protection Units, known as the YPJ, were behind the first loss that Islamic State suffered in battle in 2014. Fighting not only for their livelihoods, but for justice and equality, they commanded forces, liberated cities and defeated ISIS fighters.
