As of Thursday, August 13, 218,597 cases of COVID-19 and 6,478 deaths have been confirmed in our region.  

  • D.C.  13,024 cases and 594 deaths
  • Maryland 98,160 cases and 3,483 deaths
  • Virginia 99,428 cases and 2,248 deaths
  • West Virginia 7,985 cases and 153 deaths

The National Weather Service has issued another Flash Flood Watch for today lasting until midnight. Read more here. 


Only one southbound lane of I-270 is getting by in Urbana due to a crash.  The crash involving a tractor-trailer happened shortly before 5 a.m. near MD-80/Fingerboard Rd. in Frederick County. 

The driver has been transported to the hospital, and no other injuries were reported. 

As of 8 a.m., there is a 107-minute backup for the 10-mile drive from Frederick I-70. 


COVID-19 testing sites in D.C. are closed on Thursday due to inclement weather, and at least one site is closed in Montgomery County as well. 

The D.C. testing sites are closed until at least 4 p.m., Mayor Bowser tweeted. A decision about the firehouse testing will be announced by noon. 

Montgomery County officials announced that COVID-19 testing at the Silver Spring Civic Building and White Oak Community Recreation Center are canceled, but not because of weather.

The company that provides the county with testing, AdvaGenix, is reassessing its testing and lab process.
