A portion of westbound Interstate 78 in Somerset County remains closed early Wednesday afternoon after a tractor-trailer carrying mattresses overturned, officials said.

The crash took place at about 6 a.m. near milepost 28.6 in Bedminster, according to New Jersey State Police.

The driver was brought to a local hospital to be treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.

Two lanes remain closed as of noon to remove the truck and allow crews to perform emergency road construction. Traffic is still heavy through the area, according to SigAlert.com.

State Police said the crash, which happened just east of Exit 26 (Rattlesnake Bridge Road/Route 655), remains under investigation.
