Tucker Carlson Slams Newsom’s Leadership in California: ‘Is This Going Well or Does It Look Like Brazil?’

Tucker Carlson appeared as a guest on Wednesday’s edition of Fox News Primetime and weighed in on next month’s gubernatorial recall election in California. Polls indicate a very tight race as Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) fights for his office.

“Well, it’s just so great to watch,” Carlson told Jesse Watters. “The most amusing part to watch is this is forcing the president, leaders of the Democratic Party to endorse a governor who has wrecked our largest state. They have to tie themselves to Gavin Newsom. Now, you can only do that if you’ve never actually been to California in the past three years.”

Carlson cited San Francisco and Los Angeles, which is where much of the state’s homeless population resides.

“Go to L.A., go to San Francisco, look around. Ask yourself, ‘Is this going well or does it look like Brazil?’ No, it’s not going well at all. The state, it’s a mess. And that’s not a partisan point. They can’t keep the lights on. Their power grid is failing. So this is a failing state. It matters to all of us but, suddenly the president is like ‘Oh, no, no, no. Gavin Newsom’s doing a great job.’ Really?”

He added, “You can’t say that California is being well-run if you actually go there. And they’re gonna to have to say that, which is hilarious to me.”

Later Carlson said “I hope that there are election observers out there” because California is “completely corrupted.”

“We have this image of California as a clean state politically. But that’s from the 70s, California is completely corrupted,” he said.
