What Are ‘Red Flag’ Gun Laws And How Do They Work?
"Red flag” or extreme risk protection orders (ERPO) allow family members or law enforcement officials to file a petition to bar an individual who is considered a danger to themselves or others from possessing a firearm. At least 19 states and Washington, D.C. have "red flag" laws, according to Everytown for Gun Safety.
