Thousands arrested by Russian police during pro-Navalny protests across country
Tens of thousands of Russians clashed with riot police while demonstrating in the streets in support of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny. Thousands were arrested, including Navalny’s wife. Navalny was arrested after returning to Russia from Berlin where he was recovering from a near-fatal poisoning, which he alleges was carried out by the Russian government.
