UN Warns War In Ukraine Risks Starving Millions Around The World
U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said during a United Nations meeting on Wednesday that the number of people struggling for food supplies has "skyrocketed from 108 million people to 161 million people around the world". He added that this has been fueled by the ongoing war in Russia and "disruptions" of supplies and the "suffering" lies "solely" with the Russian government. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that "the Russian invasion in Ukraine is amplifying and acceleration all these factors: climate change, COVID-19 and inequality" which is tipping people towards "food insecurity".
