After Lawsuit, , R. Kelly Is off Suicide Watch. 'TMZ' reports the embattled former pop star R. Kelly was victorious in a recent legal battle with federal authorities. After Kelly was placed on suicide watch, his representation filed a lawsuit against the prison which currently holds the disgraced singer. Per court documents obtained by 'TMZ,' authorities have removed Kelly from suicide watch after a "clinical assessment.". After being put on suicide watch, Kelly filed a lawsuit, claiming "cruel and unusual punishment.". Kelly alleged that he hadn't intended to commit suicide. He says authorities have mistreated him due to his fame. Following being convicted of federal racketeering and sex trafficking charges. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years behind bars. Prosecutors reportedly asked authorities to sentence the singer to more than 25 years in prison. while Kelly's defense pushed for a lighter sentence of up to 10 years. Kelly still faces criminal charges in other states. The singer currently awaits trial for child sex crimes in Illinois and Minnesota
