The President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, has ratified his support for the holding of the Pacific Alliance summit in Peru after last week's cancellation of the planned meeting in Mexico due to the absence of the Peruvian President, Pedro Castillo, who was to take the baton of the Presidency.

"We have agreed, with President Castillo, to hold the suspended meeting of the presidents of the Pacific Alliance. That is, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Mexico; in the country of Peru on a date that we will announce soon, once we have finished the consultations with the other member countries of the Alliance", said Boric.

Regarding the organization, Boric insisted that it is a fundamental tool for "multilateral cooperation" between nations on both sides of the Pacific basin, in South America and Asia, according to the Chilean television channel Canal 13.

Castillo, who landed early this morning in Chile, met with Boric, who later informed that both leaders have deepened their collaboration in social issues, security and defense, foreign trade, environment, energy issues and border integration.

The Pacific Alliance summit, scheduled for last week in Mexico, was suspended after Peru's Parliament denied Castillo permission to travel to the North American nation to receive the group's leadership.

Following this episode, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced his intention to hold a meeting in Peru in order to be able to count on Castillo's presence and avoid the blockade imposed by the Andean Republic's Congress.
