EMILY PRESCOTT: Ed Balls' boy takes to stage in Diana inspired drag
Former Labour MP and Strictly star Ed Balls nearly dropped his partner Katya Jones during a dance, so perhaps he can get some tips on performing from his son Joel.
The 22-year-old student took to the stage as drag queen Ms Vanity Vengeance for a Warwick University fundraiser – with his stage name inspired by Princess Diana.
I'm told it came about after a friend noted the similarity between the outfit Joel chose and Diana's famous 'revenge dress', which she wore on the night Charles admitted to adultery.
Joel, whose mother is Labour frontbencher Yvette Cooper, tells me: 'While the first 15 minutes of a drag debut are always going to be daunting, the cheers and excitement in the room quickly overpowered that and it was a joyous and empowering experience.'
Is Nick Clegg planning on quitting his top job at Facebook's parent company Meta?
I only ask because the former Lib Dem leader, who recently revealed plans to partially move from Silicon Valley back to the UK, has set up his own company called Three Tigers Holdings with high-flying lawyer wife Miriam.
Historian Suzannah Lipscomb: I'm no Boleyn girl
She might write books featuring Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn and the Tudors, but some would rather television historian Suzannah Lipscomb dressed like them too.
Suzannah, 44, reveals she has had comments saying she should wear longer and more 'ladylike' skirts when appearing on television.
But the award-winning author and podcast host, left, brushed off the prudishness by joking: 'Sorry if that flash of calf offended anyone… Thank heaven I covered my ankles with those boots.'
Mark Gatiss is keen to bring his hit TV series Sherlock to the cinema – but don't expect a big-money blockbuster like Avatar.
Instead of a large budget, he told Saga magazine films need 'imagination' – apparently unlike James Cameron's fantasy.
It's 'one of the most boring films ever', he said. 'You're just watching money burn.'
