The Finnish authorities said Monday that they are "awaiting" the German government's decision on sending Leopard tanks to Ukraine, a matter on which Berlin has shown reluctance.

The Foreign Minister, Pekka Haavisto, has indicated that the country could contribute with "training for the use of this type of tanks and their maintenance", in addition to offering "spare parts and even transferring vehicles".

Thus, he specified that the country "is waiting for the decision of the countries leading the European bloc, but mainly Germany" regarding the supply of tanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces to confront the Russian forces.

"We are waiting for some of the most influential ones, including Germany (...) Then we will see how we can unite", he asserted, according to information from the daily 'Helsingin Sanomat'.

On January 20, the Finnish authorities announced the sending of their largest military aid package - the twelfth - to Ukraine, valued at some 400 million euros. However, it did not detail its contents.
