Four units destroyed in South Reno apartment complex fire
RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Four units are destroyed following a fire at a South Reno apartment complex.
According to the Reno Fire Department, a fifth unit is also unlivable after being damaged by smoke and water.
The fire was reported just after 5:40 A.M. on June 8, 2022 on Offenhauser Drive off U.S. 395. As fire crews were responding, they received updated reports about a possible explosion. It’s unclear at this time if the fire started from the explosion, or if it happened after the fire started.
Firefighters were on scene within 10 minutes of the original call, and by the time they arrived at least two units were engulfed in flames. Investigators say it is unusual for a fire to see that kind of fire growth that quickly.
As of right now, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
