Georgia doctor pleads guilty to writing illegal prescriptions

A Jones County, Georgia, doctor now faces up to eight years in federal prison after pleading guilty to writing illegal prescriptions. According to the U.S. Attorney's office, Thomas Sachy pleaded guilty just hours before his trial was scheduled to start in Macon's District Court. He admitted to one count of illegally dispensing and distributing controlled substances, including oxycodone. As part of a plea deal, the U.S. Attorney's office says Sachy faces up to 97 months in prison. He'll also forfeit more than $800K in cash and property, including his former office.
