Local animal shelters are participating in the Betty White Challenge.

This Monday would have been the “Golden Girl’s” 100th birthday and in honor of her and her love for animals.

With encouragement from Betty’s managers Animal rescues and shelters across the nation are asking for donations.

During the week long drive the The Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in Clarks Summit will be posting pictures and videos of their adoptable friends on their Facebook page.

“We will have a donation page on our website and through our Facebook page. It will be promoted and we hope that people can join us and give those 5 dollar donations or if you know whatever amount they are comfortable with we would be happy to accept it and to use it for our animals care here at the shelter,” Development and Communications Director at Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, Jackie Galvin said.

The Griffin Pond Animal Shelter is always looking for more volunteers to help care for their pets. To find out how you can apply to volunteer you can visit the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter website.
