A man is in custody after a deadly shooting Saturday in South Lake Tahoe, police said.

Roy Figaro, 62, was booked into the El Dorado County Jail for murder after getting into an argument with a man and shooting him, according to a news release from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 1000 block of Julie Lane.

"When officers arrived on scene, they located a male adult lying in the roadway who had sustained life-threatening injuries," said police, who then began efforts to try to save the man's life.

The man was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital, where he later died, police said. Authorities on Monday identified him as 44-year-old Christopher Kitchen of South Lake Tahoe.

South Lake Tahoe police -- along with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department, state park rangers and the California Highway Patrol -- tracked down Figaro.

Authorities established a perimeter around the home in which he was barricaded and evacuated nearby homes, police said.

Figaro eventually surrendered and was booked into jail.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding the homicide to contact it at 530-542-6100.
