Pioneers of stage and song
Jessica Brown brings us a story on the Boston Ballet’s Michaela DePrince, born in war-torn Sierra Leone, but now a world class ballerina. The little known story of 18th century master violinist Joseph Bologne, the Chevalier de St. Georges, is now a movie on the life of a man born of a French plantation owner and an enslaved African woman. Actor Kelvin Harrison Jr. talks more about the role and Bologne’s rise to the top echelons of French society.
