U.S. Officials Meet With Detained Brittney Griner In Russia: 'Top Priority'
The White House confirmed Thursday that U.S. Embassy officials met with Brittney Griner, the WNBA star detained in Russia after she was sentenced to nine years in prison for attempting to bring illegal narcotics into the country. "We are told she is doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters.
