Walmart said Thursday that it has pulled guns off its sales floors amid civil unrest fears, as Philadelphia reels from days of boiling racial justice protests and as the polarizing presidential election looms.

Firearms remain on sale at Walmart stores, according to America’s largest retailer.

“We have seen some isolated civil unrest and as we have done on several occasions over the last few years, we have moved our firearms and ammunition off the sales floor as a precaution,” Walmart said in a statement.

Last year, after the mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, the retail chain said it would stop carrying ammunition for handguns and short-barreled rifles.

Walmart said it peddles firearms in roughly half of its U.S. stores. The store also removed guns and ammo from displays in June amid social justice protests.
