Woman Says Mom With Hoarding Problem Is ‘Very Brave’ For Seeking Help

Jackie says she feels like a “worthless human being” because her house and garage are overflowing with clutter. She says that because she’s afraid others will judge her - only her daughter, Shayla, has been allowed inside her home in the last seven years. Shayla says she tried to help her mother clean while living at home but feels like she failed. Shayla claims that Jackie evicted her in 2019 and didn’t tell her why. Jackie adamantly denies kicking Shayla out. She insists it was a “big miscommunication” and that she never wanted Shayla to leave. Jackie says she’s ready to get help for her hoarding problem and that she wants her daughter’s forgiveness. “I do forgive her,” says Shayla in the video above. “I think she’s very brave for putting herself out there and trying to get help.” Tune in to Monday’s episode, “Help! My Mom’s An Empty Mess-Ter,” to find out what Dr. Phil recommends Jackie do next. And later, Dr. Phil catches up with Robin, a guest from season 17, who says Dr. Phil helped her face her hoarding issue head on.
