Aaron Judge's 62nd home run ball headed to auction, owner turns down $3 million

The man who caught Aaron Judge's 62nd home run of 2022 is about to cash in big.

Cory Youmans, 35, caught the ball on Oct. 4 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, and turned down $3 million from a prospective buyer.

After he caught the record-breaking ball, Youmans was rushed away by security and taken to New York Yankees personnel, who attempted to trade memorabilia, tickets, and photos for the million-dollar ball.

Youmans turned the team officials down, and after speaking to lawyers, he decided to auction the ball with Goldin Auctions, according to a report.

"It seems fair in the sense it gives anyone that is interested and has the means the opportunity to own it," Youmans said. "As a fan, I'm curious to see what it's worth, who buys it, and what they do with it."

"Talking to the auction people, they don't really commit to a number, but they said it just could be significantly higher based on New York, the New York fan base, and how crazy it could get at an auction," said David Baron, Youmans' attorney.

Youmans said he would ideally like to see the ball eventually make it back to Judge or into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

"It'd be great to get it back, but that's a souvenir for a fan," Judge has said regarding the ball. "They made a great catch out there, and they've got every right to it."

The auction is slated to begin on Nov. 29, and a portion of the profit from the sale will be donated to Judge's All Rise Foundation, the report noted.
