Unfortunately for Boston Red Sox fans hoping to trade for Francisco Lindor, that won't be happening.

Without questions one of the biggest news bombs to drop early on this offseason is that the Cleveland Indians are looking to potentially trade superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor. He's already been linked with several clubs, including the New York Mets.

The Boston Red Sox also figured to be in the mix to try and land him, as the club is coming off an embarrassing 2020 campaign which saw them finish in dead last of the AL East standings at 24-36. However, fans hoping to see Lindor belting dingers at Fenway Park will be disappointed to know that won't be happening.

The Boston Red Sox won't be making a move to try and trade for Francisco Lindor

With Alex Cora re-joining the team as manager, many insiders out there expected Boston to be an ideal fit for Lindor to end up at due to their connection. However, per Jon Morosi, it's looking like the Red Sox are going to focus on improving their pitching this offseason and not on going after a big bat or stud infielder, which Lindor of course would have provided for them.

Now, we must wait to see which teams will emerge as serious contenders to try and make a deal happen with Cleveland. It was recently reported that the Indians have identified the Mets as an ideal trade partner, but with all the changes over in Queens, it'd of course take plenty of time for a blockbuster deal of this magnitude to be agreed upon.

It's looking more and more likely that Lindor won't be donning an Indians uniform next season. At the same time, it's clear he will not be rocking a Boston one either in 2021.
