The Houston Astros are reportedly still interested in a reunion with first baseman Yuli Gurriel.

The saga continues for former Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel. As we talked about last week, Gurriel seemingly had a deal in place with the Miami Marlins, but the deal was called off.

The reason was that Gurriel's asking price was too high. Teams may be wary of Gurriel considering his age as he enters his age-38 season, his down 2022 MLB season, and the knee injury he suffered during the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

It was then reported that the Minnesota Twins were interested in a deal with Gurriel, but they too were offering below his asking price.

A few days ago, USA Today's Bob Nightengale was reporting that the Astros are still in the mix and are expressing interest in a reunion with Gurriel.

Now, Jon Heyman of the New York Post is hearing the same things that manager Dusty Baker would like Gurriel back in the fold.

That should come as good news to Houston fans as the first baseman is a fan favorite.

As stated many times, Gurriel's role on the team will be reduced due to the signing of Jose Abreu. However, Gurriel's versatility will allow him to slot in if an injury occurs and he may be willing to take a pay cut to remain on a team he loves.

As we have been saying all winter, you can't rule out the possibility that Gurriel will in fact make his return to the Astros. As each day passes it seems that it may actually be the most likely scenario.
