Former MLB player Trevor Plouffe says Opening Day set for July 1 at regular ballparks
Former MLB third baseman Trevor Plouffe throwing out big news on Twitter.
The rest of the baseball world hopes he's not committing an error.
Plouffe, who played nine years in the majors, is pinch-hitting as a journalist. He said that Major League Baseball plans to resume spring training next month and begin the regular season on July 1.
"Want some good baseball news?? I just heard from multiple sources that on June 10th, Spring Training 2 will start. July 1st will be Opening Day and all teams will be playing at their home ballparks," Plouffe tweeted on Monday evening while plugging his Talkin' Baseball podcast.

We’ll be discussing it in full on the next @TalkinBaseball_

Plouffe was the No. 20 overall pick in the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft by the Minnesota Twins. He played with the Twins, Oakland Athletics, Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies and hit 106 career home runs.
Plouffe spent parts of seven seasons with the Rochester Red Wings, including 2011 when he batted .313 with 15 home runs.
Major League Baseball has not said if Plouffe is striking out or hitting a home run with the assertion.
MLB has been exploring scenarios from isolating players in Arizona to multi-state solutions to regional divisions with games at home stadiums. The league has expressed confidence in a return while noting the significant hurdles posed by COVID-19.
There's no proposed date for the MLB season to start. That rumor running around today is false. Sorry.

If Trevor Plouffe is going to start a fake baseball rumor on twitter, he should at least have the decency to set the spring training start date as 6/9. pic.twitter.com/rLbh008JH4

Ok, I’ve talked with multiple sources and can confirm a June 10th spring training 2 with a July 1 opening day proposal is expected to be on the table soon. Trevor Plouffe had it first. I had it 2nd. Someone else will have it 3rd
