KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Centennial Neighborhood Association in Kearney partnered with the Cub Scouts for a community clean-up.

They collected people’s old scraps of aluminum and steel to be recycled. All they had to do was drive up and volunteers from Cub Scout Pack 135 helped sort the items.

Two of them said they really enjoyed helping out on Saturday.

“It’s important to take their stuff, so you can make new things,” said seven-year-old Cub Scout Leah Sybrant.

“It’s important to take care of people who are really nice to you,” said seven-year-old Cub Scout Lila Kvasnicka

The organizations do this every year to keep trash out of the landfills and raise money for Cub Scout projects.

“Cub Scout is thrifty and so anything we can do to make a little bit of money and for future generations to keep stuff out of our landfills,” said Centennial Neighborhood Association President Lonnie Kvasnicka.
