Steinbrenner says luxury tax is no issue; CC gets 250; Clint Frazier speaks out after demotion; Injury updates.

Newsday | David Lennon: The Yankees have said before that they wouldn’t go over the luxury tax this season, but Hal Steinbrenner (sort of) reversed course on Wednesday. Steinbrenner said that if the team needed to go over the final tax to acquire a game-breaking player, he would allow it. Acquiring either Madison Bumgarner or Marcus Stroman would leave the Yankees below the tax threshold, but it’s nice to know that there aren’t any hard and fast limitations.

ESPN | Coley Harvey: CC Sabathia earned his 250th win yesterday, becoming just the 48th pitcher to reach the milestone. Sabathia is aware of his place in history, and knows how important this achievement is. His teammates, including Gary Sanchez, were honored to be a part of the historic day. When you factor in his strikeout totals, his postseason success and his 250 wins, CC has a convincing case to be a Hall of Famer.

NJ.com | James Kratch: Like it or not, Clint Frazier is in Triple-A. Frazier’s time as a Yankee may not be long, but he’s trying to save face in the minors. Frazier said the right things after reporting to Scranton, but is still not terribly thrilled with his demotion (can you blame him?).

NJ.com | Randy Miller: As for the Yankees’ injury report, there’s good news and bad news. The good news is that Aaron Judge is coming back this week and Luis Severino will throw next week. The bad news is that Dellin Betances and Domingo German don’t have timetables and Jordan Montgomery suffered a setback. Two steps forward, three steps back.
