Steph Curry ‘doing his part as loyal Red Sox fan’ by recruiting Aaron Judge to Giants (report)

Warriors superstar Steph Curry is a lifelong Red Sox fan who even had his bachelor party at Fenway Park back in 2011. Now, he’s trying his best to help lure one of the best players in baseball out of Boston’s division.

The Giants have employed Curry to help them convince Yankees superstar Aaron Judge to leave New York and sign with San Francisco, according to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole. The Giants are viewed as the team with the best chance of signing Judge, a California native, away from the Yankees.

Judge visited the Giants in San Francisco earlier this week and the Giants attempted to get Curry to meet him in person. That didn’t pan out, but the sharpshooter exchanged texts with Judge instead. And he did it all in the name of being a Red Sox fan.

“I met him before this,” Curry told Poole. “We’ve talked before. So . . . let’s put it this way: I am doing my part as a loyal Red Sox fan.”

The Red Sox would surely love to have the reigning American League MVP out of their division (and league). Judge hit .288 with five of his record-setting 62 homers in 18 games against the Red Sox this season.

In June, before facing the Celtics in the NBA Finals, Curry explained why he became such a big Red Sox fan earlier in life.

“I was just inspired by it. Seth Curry is the big Yankees fan. I’m the Red Sox fan. Growing up in North Carolina, I never got to come up here and go to games or anything. You just watched, enjoyed the history,” Curry said in June. “Those iconic moments that Big Papi was always a part of, even the championship moments, the way that he was kind of an ambassador for the city, spokesman for the city, just the I guess reception and chemistry he had with this town. All of that is inspiring, for sure.”
